“Your Money Path” with Mike McGrath Hosts Santa Clarita Mayor Cameron Smyth

Local Advisor Gives Personal Financial Advice on New KHTS 98.1 FM – 1220 AM Radio Show in Santa Clarita

SANTA CLARITA, Calif. (May 18, 2018) -- Michael McGrath, MS, CFP®, CLU®, the host of Santa Clarita’s newest talk show, Your Money Path With Mike McGrath, will welcome Santa Clarita Mayor Cameron Smyth as his special guest on his May 23rd show.

“I like helping people,” says McGrath, a financial advisor with more than 20 years of experience.  “One of the best ways to help people is to teach them about managing their money.”

A local resident, McGrath has served as an elected member of the Newhall School District Board of Trustees and been an adjunct faculty member at The Master’s College in Newhall, Calif.  He is a partner at EP Wealth Advisors, LLC (EP Wealth), a leading independent registered investment advisor that specializes in client-centric financial planning and wealth management. McGrath’s firm has more than $3.6 billion in assets under management (as of March 31, 2018).

Now that McGrath’s trying his hand, or rather his voice, in community radio, he’s picking interesting guests to share personal stories about their own individual relationship with money.

“For many people money is a taboo subject,” says McGrath. “ As a financial advisor, I know it’s healthy to talk about finances and recognize that with a proper perspective and a few wise decisions, money can fundamentally change our lives for the better. “

McGrath’s show features a look at finance through very personal perspectives.  For example, McGrath’s first show featured his dad, Dr. J. Michael McGrath, a well-known local civic leader and educator.  The 81 year-old senior McGrath shared his financially challenging path to earning an advanced degree and raising a family on an educator’s salary.

Mayor Smyth will give insights into his career and financial path as well on the upcoming broadcast. In 2000, Smyth,  a Santa Clarita native, was elected to the Santa Clarita City Council and served six years, including two terms as mayor. Smyth left the Council in 2006 after being elected to the California State Legislature as an Assemblyman for the 38th District.

“Money is just a tool, like education for example,” McGrath adds.  “Tools are what we apply to those values that we feel are important and get us where we want to be in life.”

“Your Money Path with Mike McGrath” can be heard on local radio station KHTS – 98.1 FM and 1220 on AM, as well as Facebook Live. On Wednesday, May 23 at 1 p.m. PDT.
