Carey brings nearly 40 years of experience in financial services. Before co-founding Buffington Mohr McNeal in 1998, he held positions in investment brokerage with Robert W. Baird & Co., First Security Investor Services and served as Vice President/Trust Officer for First Security Bank Private Client Services (now Wells Fargo Bank).

Carey earned a Bachelor of Business Administration from the College of Business and Economics at Boise State University. He is a member and past board Public Relations Chairperson for the Financial Planning Association (FPA) and a charter member of the Southwest Idaho Planned Giving Council.

Deeply involved in his community, Carey currently serves on several boards, including the Idaho Shakespeare Festival Foundation and Salt & Light Catholic Radio, Inc. He is a member of the Boise Downtown Rotary Club and the Boise State University College of Business and Economics Advisory Council. Carey and his wife, Daphne, enjoy golf, tennis, international travel, Sunday family dinners, and spending time with their five grown children, two young grandchildren, and two Bernedoodle dogs.
